Better Intranet Facilitates Integration of New Company

CHALLENGE

Integra LifeSciences completed a $1 billion acquisition of a medical tool manufacturer, doubling the size of its workforce. Integra wanted to: ​

  • integrate operations;​
  • onboard and retain key employees;​
  • establish a common culture reflecting the best of each legacy organization;​
  • upgrade to a new intranet platform.​

ACTIONS

Meeting those objectives meant launching a new intranet in three months. Together with our client, SPI Group: ​

  • audited existing content on the intranet;​
  • identified about 400 pages and files to be revised, migrated or eliminated;​
  • met with more than 20 stakeholders on an approach to building their site pages;​
  • updated their intranet to a new SharePoint platform;​
  • trained contacts on using the new platform. ​

RESULTS

Many more employees are engaging with the new intranet. After the launch, page views averaged about 94,000 per month, a 16% increase over the old intranet. The HR section, including onboarding resources, netted 24,134 page views—an impressive number given the combined employee population is about 3,700.
